Geert is a member of RIAI Taskforce on Health and Safety, the Belgian Institute of Architects, the International Society of Pharmaceutical Engineers as well as Lab 21 in the United States.

Upon graduating from university in Belgium in 1982, Geert moved to South Africa where he became a director of an architectural and structural engineering company involved with major commercial and industrial projects including BP, Shell, The Barlow Rand Group and Escom. He also possesses a diploma in information systems and computer science.

Geert joined RKD in 1990 as senior architect where he successfully executed major office, laboratory and industrial construction projects. He was made an associate in 1996 and a director in 2000. His core experience is project management and design team leadership, including design of large projects with a substantial amount of business-critical services and projects in which process integration is a key objective.
