Mallow South
Location: Cork Area: 35,000 sq. m. Completion: 2009 - 2012 Cost: €100M (including Mallow North)
Mallow South is a large retail-led landmark development immediately to the west of Mallow town centre for Alchemy Property.
The mixed use development comprises approximately 23,000 sq.m of retail, new office headquarters building, leisure facilities, restaurants & pubs, residential apartments and car parking spaces, in a total development of 35,000 sq.m on a site of approximately 6 hectares.
The project is designed around a large market square with internal street linkages to the existing streets of Mallow and it provides considered balance between the needs of modern retailing and the need to create a distinctive new place. The architectural treatment comprises a modern interpretation of the traditional forms of the town of Mallow, developed in consultation with the Cork County Architect.
The project takes advantage of views over the Blackwater River. It is designed to maintain and strengthen the urban form of Mallow as well as integrating the development with the adjoining countryside on the edge of the town.
The project is being carried out by RKD Architects and Chapman Taylor Architects.
